Porch String Artist Tracy Jane Comer earns mutiple awards in the 2006 Songwriters of Wisconsin International Songwriting Contest

Madison-based contemporary folk artist Tracy Jane Comer recently received top honors in the 2006 Songwirters of Wisconsin International Songwriting Contest.

• FIRST PLACE: Adult Contemporary Category, "Take Me To The Mountain"  
• SECOND PLACE: Adult Contemporary Category, "Quietly There"        
• FOURTH PLACE: Pop/Rock Category, "Baggage"

A full-time musician, Tracy tours mostly in the Midwest and southeast and some areas beyond. She opened several tour shows for Willy Porter in 2005-2006 and has also opened shows for notables such as The Wailin' Jennys, Peter Mulvey, LJ Booth, Cathy Barton, David LaMotte, Mary McCaslin and Ed Trickett. She performed over 70 shows in 2005 promoting her latest release, Quietly There, which was nominated for BEST ACOUSTIC ALBUM by the Madison Area Music Awards. Tracy also received nominations in 2004 for BEST ACOUSTIC ARTIST and BEST ACOUSTIC ALBUM for her debut album, Second Wind. Tracy was selected as a mainstage showcase artist at Folk Alliance-Region Midwest in 2005. Her songwriting has been said to be "reminiscent of classic balladeers like Joan Baez, complete with lyrics that combines social consciousness with personal issues." (The Onion, January 2006)
