MEDICAL BENEFITS FOR MARY ANN INGRAM & FAMILY

Mary Ann Ingram, a longtime very dear friend, was diagnosed in August 2006 with advanced cancer which started in the colon and has now spread into other areas, particularly the liver. She has had surgery and is now undergoing chemotherapy. Mary Ann is a beautiful-to-the-bone person whom I have known since we were 13, and to whom I owe more than I can say. She is a loving wife and fantastic mother to six children, ages 3 to 17, who are home-schooled. They live in the Charlotte, NC area.

Mary Ann's family is one of strong faith, and I know they would greatly appreciate your prayers at this time.

Back in September 2006 while on tour in North Carolina, I did some benefit shows for Mary Ann and her family. The notes below (reverse chronological order) relate to the fundraising efforts on their behalf. (You can still contribute -- see bottom of page.)

  • Update 3/25/2008: I have been fortunate to be able to visit Mary Ann about every 2 to 3 months and always enjoy my visits immensely. She is still on chemo but is continuing with normal activities including homeschooling her children and remains involved with their activities -- sports, Girl Scouts, etc. Thanks to those of you continuing to offer prayers and good wishes to them.
  • Update 3/2/2007: I visited Mary Ann again last week and had some very enjoyable time with her and her family. She is a remarkable person who has taught me so much about living life to its fullest! I consider myself very lucky to have her friendship. She was in the hospital briefly in mid February due to complications from the chemo, but is back home now enjoying time with her family and on break from the chemo to give her body some time to recuperate. Mary Ann's husband is back at work now but still taking very good care of the family, and the children all do their part as well.
  • Update 11/9/2006: The family is very grateful for the generous gifts that have come in, which have enabled them to enjoy their time together with reduced financial stress. Mary Ann is tolerating treatment well for the most part, and tests show there has been some reduction in the cancer. The situation is still very serious, however, as the cancer has already spread extensively in the liver. The husband/father, JW, is on leave from work now in order to care for Mary Ann and the children. Continued support is very much appreciated! See the bottom of the page for info.
  • Update 9/17/2006: The shows have passed and were very successful! Heartfelt thanks to all who have contributed. The support will definitely be a help to the family. If you missed the shows YOU CAN STILL CONTRIBUTE - Scroll down to see the mailing address and other info about making a contribution by mail (text in red, below).
  • Posted 8/8/2006:  Selected performances in the Triangle area (NC) during September 2006 are being designated medical benefit shows for Mary Ann Ingram (nee Kyles) and her family.
    • Friday, September 8, 2006 Garner, NC - Life Cafe (on the Grounds of Lord of  Life Lutheran Church)
    • Saturday, September 9, 2006, Pittsboro, NC - The General Store
    • Satuday, September 16, 2006, Clayton, NC - The Flipside

There is no cover charge for these shows; free-will donations will go to the family to help defray medical and other expenses.
